After just four solo albums, Anita was one of the biggest soul singers of the time. Although the singles failed to match the success of Compositions, Anita Baker’s career was going from strength to strength. Soul Inspiration, the second single of 1990, only reached sixteen in the US R&B Charts and seventy-two in the US Billboard 100. Although it reached number four in the US R&B Charts, it only reached number forty-four in the US Billboard 100. Talk To Me was the first single released from the album in 1990. Unlike the album, the singles released from the album weren’t as successful. The album reached number five in the US Billboard 200, was certified platinum and won Anita a Grammy Award for the Best Female R&B Performance at the 1991 Grammy Awards. Compositions was released back in June 1990, and featured four songs that Anita either wrote or co-wrote. He had produced Anita’s two previous platinum certified album.
